Neither Here nor There

You are there
and I am here
and love is neither
here nor there.
So i'll light
a cigarette an'shed
a tear and wait
for this tree
some fruit to bear.

There you are
and here am I
wishing hopefully
in the starry sky,
for a visiting
angel to pass by,
lighten my load
and teach me to fly.

In these lives we
call our own,
we are intertwined
and not alone.
So let us make
this house a home
and wake up smiling,
our love shown.

For now I'll wait,
cigarette burning
stomach empty
and butterflies swirling
Because you are there
and I am here
and love is neither
here nor there
